About us
Gnomes started with one backyard hive in 2018 and if you know beekeeping you also know things can expand quickly. As of now, we run two yards with up to 30 hives total. Every season I say to everyone I know “don’t let me expand the apiary this year no matter what” and that goes… poorly. In 2024 we made the bold move to get the honey harvest out of our home and into a space that would, not be in our home. You can follow the trials and tribulations of doing something you don’t know how to do at all on our instagram page while we convert an ugly quonset hut of psychological warfare into a beekeepers’ dream.
I work on the bees with my daughter, who is really patient and excellent at spotting queens. She is an aspiring chef and baker and when she is not going to school or working in the culinary industry she helps in the bee yards.
My son also helps by being enthusiastic and encouraging towards the idea of bees. However, I have not got him to suit up in a few years.
Gnomes Apiary aspires to bring honey to communities that don’t have it as easy as we do producing honey, providing goods and services to beekeepers, and helping non-beekeepers experience the world of bees.
